I was helping throw a shower for my sweet friend's wedding, and I got to help with the Lingerie Shower! It was really fun to think through and plan out the details, and one of my favorite parts was making these Corset Sugar Cookies!
I love to make and decorate sugar cookies, and this was no exception! I simplified a little bit by using the premade Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough- the kind you buy in a tube in the fridge section. I saw a really great corset cookie cutter- that I would have bought in a heart-beat, but there was no way I was going to get it shipped in time for the shower. So I made my own corset on paper, cut it out, and traced around it with a knife on the really chilled cookie dough. The cookies spread a bit during the baking, so maybe add some flour to the dough if you are taking the shortcut like I did. Then comes the icing. First, I made the icing, and a real simple recipe-
Icing
1c. powdered sugar
2tsp. milk
2tsp. light corn syrup
1/4 tsp. almond extract or vanilla extract
(I used almond this time and really liked it!)
Mix it all up until it is pretty thick. Then, I colored it with food coloring, and used a knife to ice a thin layer over the base of the cookie. I let it dry and then put the white icing (which when you pipe it, you need to add more powdered sugar to keep it's shape when you pipe) in a pastry bag and piped it on the cookies! Once it dried it was done! Be prepared to have a really stiff hand and wrist once you are done because the icing can be hard to pipe out.
Word of warning, Don't make your cookies huge like I did, as in 8 inches tall, or you will break them in half. Which is really disappointing when you put so much time in.
But they were a great (and super yummy) addition to our fun lingerie shower!
