My Little Jonas is Growing Up!

This was the very first night we brought our little darling home- isn’t he adorable?

And yesterday our little sweetheart (ha!) turned 2! And got a present of course!

It was one of those really intense Nylabone, and we left it in the package. He pretty much destroys any thing we give him, and this package was no different.

And this is my sweetie with his new bone (which he has not put down since we gave it to him). And I think it is absolutely perfect that he is looking at me like don’t you even think about taking my bone from me- since that is what he thinks all the time! Ha!

He is not my little puppy anymore- he is all grown up! Happy Birthday little dog!

Amazing Duvet

Still here thinking about the guest room. At HomeGoods a few weeks ago they had this awesome comforter that I just loved. It was white (sigh) and had the fabric sewn so that it made large folded diamonds. It was so beautiful. But very impractical. It is one thing to have a white duvet cover. But another entirely to have a white comforter that because of the fabric wouldn't even stuff a duvet well! You just can't wash a comforter like you can a duvet. So I passed (like I usually do...)

So that is why I was so excited when I saw this duvet on West Elm today!

If you can't tell from my poor description, it is exactly the same- only better! Its a duvet! Lovely!
Now to decide if it is worth the money. Which I am leaning towards it is. Rach- opinion needed here.
Classic. Beautiful. Timeless. Chic. And totally machine washable.
It also comes in these colors, which I am really considering too!

Living Room Inspiration

Do you spend unhealthy amounts of time pouring through magazines to find the perfect images to inspire you in decorating your home? No? Ok, well, it’s just me who is crazy, but I will save you time of looking through around 50 magazines to bring you what i deem worthy of my inspiration folders! I hope you enjoy what is inspiring my Living Room.

 

Here I love the soft walls with the big bright windows. Also the furniture is a great neutral and really pops with a few key accent items. Score!

Here they put wood paneling horizontal around the walls! Who would have thought? But it is beautiful! Also I love the worn seaside look. You will probably find this is a running theme for me.

This will be most like my actual home I think. Light seaglass blue walls, white trim, great built-ins. And the sofa is like mine too! Love how open it feels!

Ok I know this is really more bedroom, but I LOVE the old dresser decked out with awesome vintage frames, and I am thinking that just might find a home in my living room.

A wall of fireplace? Are you kidding? That is awesome! I don’t know that I would ever have the nerve to paint it, but man it is beautiful like that! Also love the tone on tone in a darker shade for the drapes, and that they look like a rick dupoini silk, or burlap. Yeah, I know there is a huge difference between the 2, but it is hard to see. And fun squishy ottoman!

Yummy hardwoods, Yummy fireplace. Awesome vintage mirrors. I would live here. Interesting that they use a wrinkled slipcover with really nice leather furniture though. Hmm.

I am so bummed that this didn’t scan better, but the walls are a great grey tan and the sofa is a rich dark brown. It is a stark contrast and beautiful! And I love the roman shades.

Thinking about a new guest room

Our future guest room has warm buttery walls, great crown molding, and a huge picture window. We were given an extra bed, and now I am needing to buy king sized bedding! King beds are massive! We really like all the colors in the house, so the plan is to keep the wall color the same. My mom gave me a really pretty navy paisley duvet cover that I could use, and I am excited about. But... I am just not sure how I feel about navy and yellow so I am thinking about finding a new one. At first I was thinking white white white. I love the look to pieces. I think it would feel like a really luxurious hotel room too. But then I started thinking about guests, and wondering if they would not use it since it is white. More than anything I want people to feel comfy and at home in my house! So I am unsure of white.

In my preliminary looking I found this great duvet: what do you think?

I can't decide if I will get tired of it really fast, or if I will love it for years to come. Oh the decisions!

But let me also say that this is not the inspiration room folder for the guest room. Ok? Ok!

Busy Busy Busy!

Life is spinning like crazy for the two of us around here. Let me see if I can give you a quick update.

We saw these great friends get married! YAY! ( And my camera died so I don’t have many more pictures, sadly)

Remy dyed my hair darker. ( I just don’t know that you can tell like I can though! and doesn’t little Jonas look so funny in this picture?)

We went down to Baylor for the day and I got to enjoy a day full of my Waco favorites, complete with a happy husband even though I was shopping (ok browsing) most of the day! 

First we went to the lake to re-live our engagement!

 

This is where we ran for a mile in the freezing cold air to get to the sunset.

I personally really prefer the 3 rings to the one from the last time we were here.

  

After we went to the lake we went shopping to Spice! Pretty much a girls dream, and possibly a man’s nightmare. Did I mention how much V was a trooper?

So pretty! I am going to layer 2 dust ruffles too I decided, and 2 colors, with lots of ruffles! 

Then we went to visit my very first apartment… which is now a field! They tore it down! How? Why? Sad!!! So much for showing my kids one day!
But this was my second apartment- corner unit on the bottom, complete with a porch swing and 5 steps away from the Bear Trail. Sweet Memories!

Then we toured the highlights of campus…  

At Baylor there are green and yellow swings all over campus. They were by far some of my favorite spots to study. And there is afun tradition with a certain swing on campus-it is supposed to predict who you will marry! Basically whoever the first boy you swing with on that one swing you will spend forever with! In my case it was true! Cheesy, I know, but let me tell you it was fate!

Next we went to Common Grounds, and had yummy drinks!

And wrapped up a great day with the second future Mr. and Mrs. W, V’s brother Ben and Becky!!

 

And I recently got to be part of a certain Bride to Be pick out a certain significant dress for a certain significant day! SOO much fun!

And finally I have been pouring over all kinds of home magazines in prep for our upcoming move  and I have compiled a whole stack of inspiration folders for different rooms! Why is that important to you? Because I am going to share them with you! So stay tuned!!!

Sweet Carie Goodness!

It’s about time Miss Carie, you have deprived me of good new music for too long!

On the way to buy stuff for dinner, I was telling V again that Carie has been taking her sweet sweet time in putting out a third album.

On the way home, what did my ears hear? NEW Carie! I checked her website, and sure enough… November 3rd I will have a new Carie album in my hands! Hurray!

And i know its been awhile since i have been blogging, but my computer died, and we just got the replacement! So look for more updates soon!

Wedding Keepsake

My aunt makes the most beautiful quilts, and right before V and I got married she just finished an amazing crazy quilt. I was so thrilled that as our wedding gift, she made us a beautiful crazy quilt square that was compromised entirely of things from the wedding! We hung it in a shadow box, and it is just amazing!
She used part of the shawl from my dress, my veil, beads from my wedding party jewelry (we made the jewelry), pins and ribbon from my bouquet, the sixpence from my shoe, our wedding date in beads, my garter, my headpiece, our monogram, and our purity rings that we exchanged.
It is such a special memento, and a beautiful piece for our home, I just LOVE to look at it!

So much has happened!

I know it has been awhile, and for that I am sorry.

Things have been super busy for us since we got back from Colorado.

We celebrated out 2nd anniversary!

We took part in one of Vince's best friends wedding

We went to Nac

Vince became an ordained minister of the gospel

We are officially under contract for our first home!

There is still a lot that can happen between this point, and actually becoming home owners, so please please be praying for us! We are really just wanting God to show us the next steps!

View From the Top

I totally forgot to put up pictures from our day off while we were in Colorado! Oops!

Well, on our lone day off, we got up early to Jazzercise, and had a quick breakfast, and decided to head up a Horsetooth Mountain, right outside of Fort Collins, Co. It was really sunny, and actually hot that day. We Texans were still not used to the altitude, so it was a bit challenging- but super fun. And the view from the top made it all worth while.

The “before” shot. The guys had fun throwing rocks to see how far they could get it. Well it was fun until a hiker told us that lots of people die from getting hit from rocks when people throw them. At that point, I directly ended their fun. Just call me Debbie Downer. Getting closer, you can actually see why they name it Horsetooth Rock, it looks like horse teeth! (Not that this city girl really knew what horse teeth look like…) Can you see it? Right in the middle? Well that’s it- and actually we were about 2 hours into the hike when this picture was taken, just to make sure nobody thinks we are pathetic.   7,256 feet! The gang right before we scaled the horse’s teeth. And I do mean scaled! And the view from the top!

There was a chipmonk way up there. See him? So cute!

We made it!

And I had a lucky ladybug land on me! Which is especially fun since my mom always called me ladybug when I was little. It’s on my thumb.
